In 1950, 20-year-old Anna Loman moves to a Detroit suburb. She eagerly agrees to care for her neighbor's young daughter. Ultimately, it is up to Anna to keep the child out of the clutches of a deadly tyrant.
It is a story about oppression and murder that portrays the stoical strength of a woman, the lives of two families, and the struggles of immigrants.
